MM USA Opius AM & PM Review

Dubbed “healthy and safe alternative pain remedy” by its manufacturers, Opius AM For Pain has started to garner increased interest from chronic pain sufferers.

With a reasonable price tag, impressive promises from the manufacturer, and glowing online reviews, it seems reasonable to take a closer look at this relatively new pain-relieving supplement.

Who Can Use Opius Am?

The National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine estimates that more than 100 million U.S. adults currently experience some kind of chronic pain. [1]

Although these pain issues may vary greatly in cause and scope, the fact remains that many sufferers either fail to treat the pain or are forced to rely on conventional treatment options.

Unfortunately, many conventional treatments for pain management involve taking medications that can be addictive, have troubling side effects, or can even lead to pain feedback loops.

Founded in 1995, MMUSA is a supplement manufacturer specializing in sports-related and physical enhancement supplements.

Pledging to exceed industry quality and control standards, the U.S.-based manufacturer claims to have created Opius AM to provide relief for “adult men and women who need to work and be active.” [2]

What is Opius AM Supposed to Do?

According to MMUSA, the benefits of Opius AM include:

– Gently easing joint pain
– Soothing stressed connective tissues
– Brightening mood

Additionally, the manufacturer claims that the supplement is non-habit-forming and has no known side effects. Reading between the lines, Opius AM increases pain tolerance by acting on your brain’s endorphins and other “happiness chemicals.”

By creating an energized state, the supplement is said to produce a feeling of well-being and relief.

How do I Take Opius AM?

A single bottle contains 50 servings, and individuals are advised to take 2 pills daily on an empty stomach.

Although MMUSA claims that the supplement doesn’t pose health dangers, it’s always wise to consult with your physician to rule out any potential drug interactions. T

his is particularly important given the presence of DL-Phenylalanine, an ingredient that is discussed in detail below. Additionally, the product is not intended for anyone below the age of 18 or for women who are pregnant or nursing.

What are the Ingredients in Opius AM?

The Opius AM product page breaks down several ingredients found in the supplement with reasoning behind their inclusion. Despite the company claims, I decided to take a closer look to see if science backed up the company’s claims. The six active ingredients include:

Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine hydrochloride) – 10 mg

Like other B complex vitamins, B6 is used to convert carbohydrates into glucose. Additionally, this vitamin contributes to the creation of neurotransmitters and has been known to control levels of homocysteine, an amino acid associated with heart disease.

Low B6 levels are associated with rheumatoid arthritis, carpel tunnel syndrome, and other muscular issues, and multiple studies show that supplementation may reduce inflammation and other symptoms. [3]

DL-Phenylalanine (DPLA)

This combination of essential amino acids is not currently accepted in the treatment of any condition. However, some studies from the 1970s and ’80s suggest that it may have benefits in mitigating the effects of depression.

Although sometimes used to control pain, there are numerous risks and drug interactions that should be considered before beginning a supplement regimen. [4]

Phenylethylamine (PEA)

This trace amine plays a neurotransmitter role by interacting with intracellular receptors called trace amine-associated receptors, or TAARs.

While known to influence both leukocyte migration (associated with immune responses) and so-called “happiness hormones” (including dopamine and serotonin), little evidence supports the benefits of supplementation.

In fact, the molecule features an extraordinarily fast half-life that leaves it quickly broken down into inactive components. [5]

Theobromine

A xanthine alkaloid, theobromine is derived from the cacao bean and other plants. Most commonly found in chocolate, tests have shown it to be a stimulant with an absolute bioavailability approaching 100%.

While the alkaloid has little stimulant effect on the central nervous system, it continues to be used as both a bronchodilator and a vasodilator. [6]

Caffeine (from the coffee bean) – 100 mg

One of the world’s most common stimulants, caffeine stimulates the central nervous system to restore mental alertness and wakefulness.

Additionally, it is often used to increase the effectiveness of pain relievers and improve physical strength and endurance.

This well-studied stimulant is also known to have Nootropic benefits because of its influence on dopamine, serotonin, and other important brain chemicals and systems. [7] [8]

Bioperine (piperine)

This alkaloid can enhance digestive capacity by stimulating digestive enzymes. Most importantly, research shows that numerous therapeutic drugs become more bioavailable thanks to piperine. Further, the alkaloid shows both anti-mutagenic and anti-tumor properties. [9]

Should I Take Opius AM?

Unfortunately, my review of Opius AM’s ingredients offers little in the way of conclusive evidence for or against the product. While current research makes it easy to dismiss the value of DPLA and PEA, 2 important factors paint a more complicated picture.

Because the manufacturer designates all but Vitamin B6 under its proprietary blend, it’s impossible to know whether or not DPLA and PEA may simply act as stabilizing agents.

Without a clearer understanding of the serving size, I’m forced to weigh concerns with these ingredients against the proven value of virtually all the others.

With so many suffering from chronic aches and pains, a pain management alternative with potential is too hard to ignore.

Put simply, Opius AM might just be able to deliver some relief to a population in dire need of effective results.
